How We Do What We Do
-
At Kuandaa, we train pastors to lead, disciple, and equip others with biblical clarity and practical tools. Our 18 core classes are delivered in two-day seminars—three classes per day, over two consecutive days—once a year for three years. This rhythm allows pastors to learn deeply while continuing to shepherd their local congregations.
Each training is delivered in a lecture and interactive format, helping pastors not only understand Scripture but also apply it and teach it to others. Between trainings, local leaders provide ongoing follow-up, reinforcing what was taught and helping pastors put it into practice.
We are committed to developing indigenous leaders in local contexts, languages, and cultures. The training is intentionally reproducible: pastors take what they’ve learned back to their congregations and equip others to lead and disciple.

Everything about our model is built for multiplication. By spreading training over three years and partnering with local leaders for follow-up, we are not just teaching information—we are equipping pastors to multiply leaders and churches.
Pastors are prepared to take the training home, teach it to others, and raise up new leaders. This often leads to new church plants as pastors apply the training in their communities. Because the training is accessible and grounded in Scripture, it continues long after a seminar ends, carried forward by pastors who are equipped, empowered, and committed to multiplying leaders, churches, and communities.

While our core training lays the foundation, the Hertel Project takes pastor development to the next level. Currently in its early stages on 23 acres of land, the project is designed to provide pastors with advanced theological training while also equipping them with practical, income-producing skills such as farming, tree farming, and animal husbandry.
Many pastors are eager to plant churches but lack the resources to support their families and sustain their ministries. The Hertel Project addresses this by combining deep biblical and leadership training with skills that create sustainable livelihoods. Pastors will gain advanced theological knowledge, leadership development, and practical skills that allow them to plant and grow churches while providing for themselves and their communities.
In essence, the Hertel Project functions as a hybrid seminary and trade school. By preparing pastors at this next level, it ensures that multiplication—of both leaders and churches—is grounded in spiritual depth and practical sustainability. Though just beginning, the vision is to create a hub where pastors are equipped to lead well, disciple effectively, and multiply both spiritually and practically.
